Mesías and Joselito are taking part in a General Chapter for the first time. There are some topics, such as formation, which they are listening to with interest, but above all they have come with the aim of making the Andean Union known. It is a year and a half since it was constituted and they want to show their willingness that in the future other nearby countries such as Venezuela, Colombia, or Ecuador could belong to it. They want the opening to be natural. They are working to create the right structure to make the Union grow.
Personally, the relationship in this General Chapter with MSC from other countries, with different cultures, different languages… “broadens them as MSC“.
This knowledge of other provinces and the living together with other confreres will help them, on their return to Peru, to prepare the MSC of the Andean Union to move forward and to renew themselves in order to respond to a society in continuous evolution, also vocationally. They are working to promote the new Union in the structures of the Congregation
They feel surprised by the issue of ‘congregationality‘, which begins with formation and awareness as the Andean Union, beyond the relationship with the rest of Latin America, as they are part of a global missionary congregation. A challenge for the short and medium term that they know they must work on being “something small”, inserting themselves in a project of ‘congregationality’. They are aware of this spirit in the rest of the MSC in the Chapter, a good spirit to complement and become aware of this reality.
As MSC, as members of the Congregation, they feel that they are part of a family. It is not the province or the entity that functions in each country, “but we are a unit, from where we have to face all the missions, the same common reason why we are called to become aware of what we belong to and what we have to take root, above all, the message.” They believe that the creation of the commissions will help, which relieves the general administration of work and responsibility, helping communication, the socialization of the entities, the concerns, the projects, not remaining as a reality of this or that entity, but as a family, as a congregation.
